OMG, THAT WAS REALLY NASTY!
the other day, i was drinking water and i felt a
squishy thing land on my tongue. i thought, uh-oh, that was weird. that
was not supposed to be there. so stupid me, i decide to roll that thing
around my tongue to figure out what it was and when it yielded no
taste, i thought i would place it between my two front teeth and squish
it there. when i did, i thought, ewww! that is a really bitter and
spicy taste. i wonder what it is? so i spit it out of my mouth into my
hand and would’nt you know it…
i squished a fat fly between my teeth! freakin grosssss!
completely disgusted by what i had just done, i poured some supposedly "disinfecting palmolive orange soap" on my tongue.
let me tell you. soap does not taste good. never ever again will i ever
put any sort of soap into my mouth. that almost made me throw up, it
was so nasty!
i felt so bad for my poor abused taste buds. i
treated them to sugar after i finally rinsed off the soap. however, i
do not think they will ever be the same after this - sigh!
when i was finally calm and sitting and laughing over
what i had just done, i realized i have eaten so many things that could
be considered disgusting.
i should go on Survivor or Fear Factor! haha!
anyway, here’s a list of food that i have eaten at least once or twice, but will probably never eat again if i can help it:
- goat - goat meat has a really funky taste and smell to it! eww!
- ants - they have this bitter, but spicier taste also
- chicken blood
- when put in soup it sort of curdles into this blackish/grayish thing
and i used to love it as a kid, but now i can’t stand large chunks of it
- chicken feet
- i used to think these were sooo good until i remembered live chicken
running around in their own poop on my grandfather’s chicken farm
- snails
(oh…excuse me…escargot) - my parents love them! but i get sick
looking at them all curled up in their little shells. ok, maybe i’ll
eat every now and then. *shrug*
- live jellyfish
- i remember they serve them fresh, live, and pulsing on a plate in the
philippines and i used to love just swallowing them that way, but now -
yuck!
- paper - just does not digest right
- sea worms - i will not eat them when they are whole. although, i think i will eat the cut up ones
i’m sure i have eaten more weird
things, but that’s all i can think of for now. i’m still alive, so i
guess eating them again will not be such a bad thing, but i am not
going to try anytime soon.

haha - thanks for your honesty - it really made me laugh. I totally understand what you’re talking about though. Sometimes being naive and clueless is bliss. My mum always say to me - don’t think about it or where it comes from just eat it - this applies to eggs, birds nest soup, chicken and duck feet, pigs ear and intestines and other tasty but actually quite gross oriental stuff. Oh BTW i once sneezed and a massive mosquito flew out my nose.. that was rather distressing.. Anyways - hope u check the water before taking another gulp. ;P

Actually, i love to eat that stuff (but i dont eat blood of a pig that is called (dinuguan in the Phil) hehehe Just try the famous Restaurant in the Phil, called “Balaw Balaw” all exotic foods are there!! had a big helping of what thought was chili while down in Leyete. Mark me as having eaten pigs blood now after that episode. And yeah - I yacked it up as soon as I realized my mistake after first spoonful.
Have had a hamburger made out of horse before - another suprise - but haven eaten Elmers glue once or twice when was yonger - guess already had horse. lol
Kangaroo steaks are not too bad - well - as long as you never seen a real roo before. lol
Snakes - had plenty - lol - taste like chicken — or in some cases - catfish. You go through one jungle warfare school - you find the same in the next. lol

u have a lot of guts trying them bizarre foods. hee! well i hate escargo. i can tell u the foods i’ve tried.
1) Baloot - You have to eat it in the dark because you do not want to see an inborn chick inside an egg.
2) Crickets - i tried it in the philippines at a buffet and i gotta say, that was nasty.
3) Goat - ur right, its got that funky odor!

You have to watch a show called “Iron Chef”. It is a Japanese cooking competition show, and it is not only very fun, but they cook all manner of weird things.
When they cook the fish, they often split the heads and grill them. The panel of tasters often love the eyeballs and cheek meat!
When they cook poultry, they often don’t cook it at all…picture a 10 pound turkey dipped in boiling water for 5 minutes, then sliced and served with sauce. It’s gooey and raw and they eat it.
They also eat it sashimi style…which is a meat or fish served raw, then dipped in hot broth before eating.
They always eat the innards of any animal they are cooking, especially enjoying fish roe of any sort.
It’s on the food network every week night at 10 pm I think…

1. bayawak - tastes like chicken but feels like fish in the tongue
2. bats - crunchy and spicy (mainly because of the preparation)
3. sting ray - rubbery but tastes good in adobo

everybody who i asked who isnt a filipino would gag and scowl at the sight of a 17day old little duckling being slurped out its shell. it is bony (esp the beak), it is mushy (due to the brain part),it is hairy (the feathers of course, it has a bit of a gray soup inside the shell and the yellow yolk with visible veins intact for your biting pleasure. you dip it in salt or sometimes vinegar to heighten the taste. yum! try it sometime.

Camel toe (LOL; really DID have camel steak)
Way out in the western US, I once ate “mountain oysters” or bull testes, and it was kinda nasty… sorta just slimed on down your throat.
Of those experiences, I’d recommend the Camel. It’s a sweet meat.

All weird things you can eat here in the Philippines. Ever had chicken gizzard, liver, feet and head (yes, with the beak!) on a cute barbecue stick? May sound appalling but almost every street corner has it. A stall near my house even reads: “Chicken spare parts and accessories.” And yes, there’s that aborted goose egg, the ever-famous balut.

the most weirdest food i have eaten is i think balut and those “isaw in the street” foods..but they taste really nice for me..they’re not really that gross..except for the fact that your health could be at risk..so i try to avoid it as much as possible..hehehehe..

hey ya..the weirdest i’ve eaten so far are turtle soup and newly laid turtle eggs..the turtle soup was fine since the turtles were cultured by the chinese resto we went to and it was delish! (the owner even said turtle meat are good for the eyes..but i don’t know really)..eggs on the other hand i suggest u dont try..well my sister just loves it but i don’t..knowing sea turtles are endangered nowadays its my own way of saving them..
